The Center for Early Success is excited to launch the First 2,000 Days campaign, an initiative focused on raising awareness about the critical early years of a child’s life. Research shows that 90% of a child’s brain develops within the first 2,000 days—from birth to kindergarten—making this period essential for shaping future learning, health, and well-being.
The First 2,000 Days campaign connects families, businesses, and community organizations to support young children’s development. “With 90% of a child’s brain development occurring in the first 2,000 days of life, we know that investing in early childhood benefits not only children but also families, businesses, and our entire community,” said Angela Wells, Executive Director of the Center for Early Success. “This campaign will help parents connect with resources, assist employers in supporting working families, and provide communities with tools to foster early learning and development.”
Why It Matters
Every experience a child has during these formative years strengthens or weakens the foundation for future success. Investing in early childhood development leads to higher graduation rates, better health outcomes, and increased economic stability . By providing families, caregivers, and educators with the tools and resources they need, we can help children build a strong foundation for lifelong success.
Our Goals
The First 2,000 Days campaign aims to:
- Inform parents, caregivers, and community members on the importance of early brain development.
- Connect families with essential resources for health, childcare, and early learning.
- Encourage businesses, faith leaders, and local organizations to support policies and programs that benefit young children.
It Takes a Community Raising a child is not just the responsibility of families—it requires a strong support network that includes healthcare professionals, educators, employers, and community leaders. When we invest in young children, we create a ripple effect that benefits our entire community.
